Back to Feb Issue

Just a while back, if my family became ill, we'd rush to the doctor and beg for antibiotics.  I had a medicine cabinet with everything you can imagine in it, prepared for the worst, expecting the worst!

The older I get though, and the more I practice prayer, the more I'm shown that God will heal anything and help anytime.

Last night Chris had a toothache again.  We tried a brief prayer, cleaning the teeth well, rinsing with Listerine to kill any bacteria, and then finally Ibuprofen.

Nothing worked yet.  It was still going on and he came back to me very miserable.

After a couple of rounds of doing what I knew to do in man's world, I returned to prayer and did it a bit differently.

I turned from the movie I was watching and put my whole attention to staying with the prayer until we saw or felt results.

I used the 7 steps to healing formula, roughly, and called upon the scripture I knew that we could rely on.  I also anointed him with cooking oil and finally stood in front of him with my hands a few inches away from his body and "stroked" his energy field (the warm air around him) as he said, "Thank you Jesus, I am healed!"  (I said "Thank you Jesus, Chris is healed.")

I could feel something change in what we were doing.  I felt Christ's presence in the room, first of all.  (I prayed, reminding ourselves out loud of His promise "Where two or more are gathered in my name, I will be there also.")

I also felt a difference in my own body's energy field.  I knew something had "kicked in".  I was more sensitive to Chris as I used my hands around him and, strangely enough (since it was the first time I had tried this), it felt more normal than just prayer alone.

Chris also was responding by getting "into" it.  He was excited, more willing to repeat the words with me and really believe.  All the right elements were there, but did we trust God enough to believe this worked?

We knew we had to live it out completely to get our miracle.  As we went back to our work, it was immediately evident that it had worked.

Not one more problem with his teeth since then!  Praise God!!  He is SO good to do all He promised!  What a wonderful and immediate God we have!

We spend so much time studying remedies and dosages and which doctor to go to, shouldn't we spend nearly that much time on learning the spiritual principles of healing?

Why run off to go see a dentist or doctor if you can ask God for help wherever you are?

I remember reading somewhere that in Genesis 6, one of the things God was angry with the angels that had mated with humans was, they had taught mankind how to make weapons of war and the knowledge of herbs.

After all, before that point, there was no illness.  Any injuries or problems, they told God and He fixed it.  Probably by revealing what they had done that was out of alignment with His will that may have caused the problem.

Dr. God.  Jesus our healer.  He's the greatest physician EVER!

Scripture we used:

I Peter 2:

24Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

John 16:23
And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
John 16:22-24 (in Context) John 16 (Whole Chapter)

John 14:14
If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
John 14:13-15 (in Context) John 14 (Whole Chapter)

John 14:13
And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
John 14:12-14 (in Context) John 14 (Whole Chapter)

John 16:26
At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:
John 16:25-27 (in Context) John 16 (Whole Chapter)

John 16:24
Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
John 16:23-25 (in Context) John 16 (Whole Chapter)

James 5:14-16

14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

15And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven.

16Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
