How to respect yourself |
||
Self respect is something that every baby is born with, and is a right of every human being. In fact it's a necessity, and even the Bible teaches that we must think well of ourselves. Not an over inflated opinion of course, but a healthy one. Having a poor self image is at the core of most every psychological problem we face today. Not only will it keep you from enjoying your life to the fullest, but it will damage your finances, your relationships and your work. Your self image is what you think about yourself, based on things you've heard said about you, and about others around you. Obviously any human life is going to be touched by events and experiences that give us negative feedback about ourselves. From experiences in your past, you draw conclusions, many times faulty ones, from lack of understanding of the circumstances surrounding those experiences. Poor self image results when comparing yourself to others and believing that you are somehow not as worthy or capable as others. By the time you have reached your teen years, your natural self respect has taken many hits and these delicate years of peer pressure and awkwardness, only add to the damage to your spirit. As a child you are not responsible for your misunderstandings of life and relationships, but as an adult, you CAN repair this self image, rather than allowing it to go on in error as long as you live. You can do this with a procedure called Emotional Freedom Technique, or "EFT". With lightning speed, a one minute tapping routine on your face while reciting a simple verse like "Even though I feel bad about myself when I'm with other people, I still completely love and accept myself", can change your life and outlook dramatically. You would repeat this step, slightly altering the statement to go over everything you feel uncomfortable about in your past or heart, and anything that is bothering your body as well. You can also meditate and visualize yourself as you would like to be, and hold onto that image, choosing to "act it out" and live it, as if you were an actor playing a part. If you do this for several days, it will become your nature and you will grow into it. With each success and achievement, as you hear the good things said about you, your self esteem will rise. You can also visit therapists, life coaches, pastors and hypnotists, however in most cases, finding out your life's purpose and what you are here to do, will benefit you more than anything they can tell you. To find out what you are here to do, you need to stop and think about what makes you truly happy. What things get you excited about life? What do you love to talk about when people listen to you? Also look at your obvious talents, and the things you daydream about being able to do. When you discover what your passion is, simply look at it from different angles and find out how you can DO this activity for the benefit of mankind. How can you serve the world with it? If you can cross or combine doing what you love and loving what you do, with doing a service for mankind, that is where your heart will be and where the money will be also. The universe will pay you and your "work" will seem like play. If there was someone who said work had to be unpleasant or hard, they were mistaken. The people who make the most money and live life the fullest, do what they LOVE to do, and never regret it. All of us come to earth with a purpose, and a set of talents or gifts that are our tools to enable us to accomplish it. Once you realize that you are unique and you are here on official business, your self esteem will grow even more. Be sure to check my websites for more information on how to build your self image.
