Today's Garden Experience: A Monastery
I would love to live in an old monastery, one of those places where the nuns walked to prayers under arched verandas.
I imagine the gardens, alive with color, aromatic herbs and once carefully trimmed topiaries.
The climbing vines, though gone a bit untidy, still bear blossoms and give it that kind of unused look that makes you feel at peace and comfortable. Not a busy garden. Not perfect or hurried. Can you picture it?
In the distance a chubby old monk weeds quietly, enjoying his vow of silence and the song of the small birds in the cedar trees. All around him the vintage roses are allowed to grow wild and free. Their sprays of thorny branches bent almost to the ground with lush blooms.
The monk's sandals are worn and soft, his feet glad for the warmth that reflects up from the old stone path to chase away the memory of winter.
In the center of the garden, an old fountain leans where lichen and rust comfortably share the basin with cardinals and blue birds.
I am learning to appreciate that the beauty of such a place exists because of the discipline of those who worked it and that work can be a sacrifice of joy and love. (TOP)
If you've been worrying about a possible collapse of the dollar and the natural disasters that might happen in 2012 when all the celestial bodies line up, you're probably ready to hear how this could be GOOD news for you!
Jeremiah 31:31 and Daniel 2:31 tell us the good news of what is to come. Daniel's vision of the huge statue with head of gold, breast of silver, belly and thighs of bronze, legs of iron, and feet of both clay and iron, describes the reign of the Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar and his descendents until the time of Christ. In the last days, it says a huge rock that was not cut with human hands will fall on the toes and crush them and break the statue to pieces, and it would all fly away on the wind and be gone. In its place, the rock that crushed it would become huge and fill the entire earth. This is Jesus, our rock, the cornerstone that the builders (Jews) rejected.
In Jeremiah God says that He was about to make a new covenant with His people, and no longer would a man have to teach others to know God, but He would write His laws on their hearts and be in our minds. This is also about Jesus, and the time we live in right now. Jesus sent us the Holy Spirit to teach us and guide us into all truth.
Now what is left is for the systems of this earth, the remnants of the Babylonian empire to be removed from the earth and then Jesus will fill it and we will enter into the way Adam and Eve's life in the Garden of Eden would have become if they had not sinned. The vision of the monastery (above) and the beautiful gardens will be real and earth will be even more amazing! Your life will be wonderful!
The Bible says even nature has been changed and is out of order because of the sins of mankind. The animals and insects and plants are not functioning as they should. Man's sins are totally out of control in this time period and are about to reach the peak of what God will allow.
If you read the account in Jeremiah of the cleansing of Judah, when God allowed the Babylonian king to take His people captive, you'll see that He promised after a relatively short period of unpleasantness, God would restore His people to their lands and He describes very plainly how it will look and be for them when they returned. It was all very good and merciful, filled with joy.
The books of Jeremiah and Daniel are tied in together and show the hope that we're looking for today! They describe for us how God protected the good people while He cleaned up Judah, and how He reestablished them in their place. It says that our Lord will fill up the entire earth and all sin and evil will be gone. Nature will be set right again, the animals and insects and all of creation will function as they were intended. That means no more mosquitoes that bite! No more struggle, no more pain. No more tears, no more death. (It doesn't matter if it is on the new earth God will replace this one with, we will be protected and cared for if we love and serve Him.)
Some of us will be living when this happens, some will already be gone home to heaven. No man knows the moment when Jesus will return but we have been told how to behave and who to rely on for all our needs until it is all accomplished.
3 This is what the LORD says: Do what is just and right. Rescue from the hand of his oppressor the one who has been robbed. Do no wrong or violence to the alien, the fatherless or the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place. (Illegal immigrants are aliens, so are legal ones. Those who look and act differently. Children, orphans, all those without protectors. Do and think no harm to them.)
15 "Does it make you a king
16 He defended the cause of the poor and
Jer. 29:1111 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Yes, there may be some frightening things that happen. Jesus told us all about it. There would be earthquakes, wars, people talking about wars to come, sin would abound, families would fight against themselves, child against parent, and parent against child. This is what we would see happening around us, but it doesn't HAVE to involve you!
Do what is right, keep your eyes on Jesus and walk in His kingdom - which means, if you walk in love and peace towards your brethren, you'll have the power of the anointing and God will protect you from harm.
The money system of this world, the greed, the violence and all that people are struggling so hard to hold onto, HAVE to be removed so that we can enter into peace with the Lord. Don't be frightened, no matter what happens.
If nothing happens in our lifetime, perhaps that's the hardest task of all, to carry on and pray for our land and leaders, to seek to prosper those around us, and to forgive and forgive until Christ returns.
Don't anchor your heart to the doom and gloom messages, but to God's Word and establishing a loving and real relationship with Him. He's got it firmly in His control! Honest! (TOP)
I'm sorry that it's been so long since I posted a newsletter. Life happened! :) New granddaughter, needs of the family, trying to stay ahead of the work load.
I've thought of you and hope you had a great winter. Although the seasons change and our work requirements change, we can stay anchored in the Lord and sure of our praise every day. Whether we know what tomorrow holds or whether every day is a complete surprise, we can be assured that our lives are part of God's plan if we love Him, and that NOTHING can happen to you today or any day that is outside of His power to save.
Every event holds within it the seeds of blessings and new vistas. We move upward and onward with every success, and although the battle is already won, we must remember to recharge our batteries in between each fight!
Go to Jesus, sit at His feet and learn of Him. Hear His words fresh and new. Your prayer time can be as unique as you are! Every worship session can be different, balance it out and explore new ways to connect with God. Some days the Holy Spirit may lead your heart with an urging to sing. Some days you might have a need to sit down for a heart to heart with the Lord. Other times you might want a more formal approach to worship.
I like to begin my day at the computer typing my prayers as I speak them out loud. I praise Him first, and talk to the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit as if I just walked out to the kitchen table and found them there. As I type, I remember scripture and I claim the promises as mine and ask for my day to be safe and empowered. I thank Him for the provision and abundance, and especially if I am in need of something, I thank Him in advance for it.
Sometimes He speaks back to me and I write down what I feel in my heart that He is saying.
Now and then He'll give me a song to sing and great words! Usually I don't get to write them down because it's a song for that moment in praise and I don't stop what I'm doing to write down the words!
I love my Lord. He's been so good to me and my family. He has shown up for us when we needed Him and proven that He's real and so ready to save us! No matter what your problem is, I guarantee that Jesus can find the way out of it for you, and lead you safely and gently through.
He doesn't accuse us of our sins, He's gentle and loving and willing to forgive if we confess them and try to move on. I don't think God wants to hear us repeat them every day, crying over our failures and bringing up our shortcomings. I think He wants us to quickly confess, repent and move on, grabbing hold of His glorious promises and having the courage to get our minds up into the higher places so the enemy can't destroy us.
The point to all of this is not to have God in your pocket as your tool and helper, but for YOU to be in God's pocket, as His grateful and joyful child. Come to Him, love Him, honor and worship Him as your king and creator. No matter how hard you tried you could NEVER imagine a greater or better God than our wonderful Lord!
As you celebrate Easter, remember that He didn't HAVE to die for you, but He thought of you first, and loved you...before you were anybody, and He chose to spill His blood so that you could be free.
I know everyone is talking about disaster in 2012 and governments' bad decisions and calamities on every side of us, but remember the scriptures that promise for those who love and obey God:
'Though a thousand fall at your side and ten thousand by your right side, no harm will come to you. No weapon formed against you shall prosper. No plague will come near your dwelling. You'll be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out. Like the Psalms say, you'll be like a tree planted by a river of water, and peace and prosperity will be your portion.'
Job 36:11 If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.
Psalm 35:27 Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favor my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant
Psalm 122:7 Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces
Jeremiah 33:9 And it shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and an honor before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do unto them: and they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure unto it.
God bless you and Happy Easter! (TOP)
We've had a miracle filled winter this year! Don't let anyone convince you that God's hands are tied in your situation! So many times it looked like we were out of options but God brought us the help we needed in the nick of time. In fact, it works faster if you don't try to figure out how help is coming!
Even when we just wanted something but it wasn't really a necessity, He provided the money to have the better food and the nicer choices.
A week or so ago, Chris' sunglasses were broken, and as we dressed to go for a walk, he asked for his glasses. I told him I was sorry he didn't have any at the moment. We went out for the walk and were downtown here in Warwick, when a car was approaching. I had to move his wheelchair off the road and into the grass of the park, near the big slide. (I don't normally try to push his chair through dirt or grass because it's harder, and I wasn't intending to go to that part of the playground.)
Right in front of us, where we were forced to go, was a beautiful pair of sunglasses laying in the grass. Nobody else around in the whole town, no sign of who had lost them. God is SO good! He takes care of our needs day by day, moment by moment and arranges a way for you to be in the right place and time to receive them!
Chris has been pretty much pain-free since December 28th with the exception of a couple of times that food got into a cavity and he needed to brush good.
My newest granddaughter was born in January. Her name is Ashley Nicole, also born to Matt and Tina. They also have daughters Tristy, Amber and Kyrii.
Amber joined Tristy in school this year, and Kyrii is up and walking and talking. She's 2 now.
Rod's been working on his uncle's house along with some cousins to try to help him have a safe and decent place to live.
Jobs have not been as frequent this winter, but that's to be expected with the weather and everyone readjusting their incomes and expectations.
I know that no matter what the economy does, and no matter what the government does, God is on our side and His provision never ends or fails! Praise God!
In fact, it's much more exciting now to see that the Lord STILL gives us our livelihood beyond the usual means. I believe that if all the jobs in the world stopped, somehow our great God would keep everything going and we'd lose nothing.
Write to us, send us your prayer requests and know that we, and Jesus, love you! (TOP)
Cleaning out the clutter, giving away everything we can that isn't absolutely essential to our living!
Cutting out any bills or expenses that don't pay us back in benefits for the long run, or give us great joy.
Learning and growing. Learning that great beauty often comes through discipline and work. A garden didn't get so lovely without a loving hand to guide it.
Getting back to my artwork. Doing the things we enjoy. Giving the children opportunities to experience life, make choices and try their wings. Children need to be familiar with responsibility before they reach the age where the world expects them to know how to do it all for themselves! One reason is so that they are confident that if they fall, they can get up and try again, knowing they are safe and supported.
Getting all legal documents in order. Getting wills made and making sure we're complying with all laws.
Being kind, generous as our abilities provide, and being firm - living up to the standards we say we believe in. (TOP)
Just For Fun!
Do your children love playing games online? Do you home school your kids and are looking for educational games? I'm making a list, more will be added soon. Check these out! The Y beside a game site means it's for young children, easy to play. Y + T means it's also for teens. If you see an A, it means check each game the kids start to play. Some may be of older content, or violent, so it may be inappropriate for them. Each game is different.

Having problems? Job problems? Family or relationship problems? Health or financial problems? No matter what you're going through, the Bible tells us something that God said about that situation and how you're supposed to handle it. We're instructed to speak back to God the words He has already spoken about it, INSTEAD OF getting off into fear or offense.
You need to know the promises that God made, and what He instructed us, so you can be victorious in your life. He said when we use His Words, the angels respond immediately and get working on our problems.
