This year, conquer two problems with one
decision!
Christmas is coming, and I don't know about
you, but most of the young people I know have begun that non-stop
nag about all the things on TV they want you to buy this year.
We all face it, we all want to do something
really great for our loved ones, but we also have bills that need to
be paid, needs like eyeglasses, shoes and repairing the house or
car.
We've also got a house bursting at the seams
with THINGS. Things that are costing money to maintain.
Even if it's only a box of items stored in a corner in your house, a
portion of your heating and cooling bill, a portion of the mortgage,
and your net worth, is going into storing that box.
It takes up space, and it adds to mold and
rodent problems.
How many of us have closets filled with unused
toys, video games, camera equipment, and pretty things to put on a
shelf? Even if it's outdated it's worth something to somebody!
Lots of that stuff we don't even remember we
have!
Now consider all the Christmas gifts you have
to buy for your own kids, school kids, nieces, nephews,
grandchildren, etc.
Wouldn't it be nice if you could take those
stored things out and either sell them, give them outright to
another person as their gift this year, or trade with friends for
something gently used of theirs to give your loved ones?
It's absolutely possible! It will mean
almost no outlay of cash for gifts, and a huge increase in your net
worth if you can empty out your house in a profitable way!
Whether you're giving it, donating it or
selling it, getting that stuff out of your corners and closets will
make you healthier, and give you more room to do what you love with
your life!
It's not easy, I know that. But it's
necessary, and there is time for it if you begin now! Make
your plans, and give with love, not cash or credit.
Instead give your cash to the organizations
that help people in need. The Salvation Army is one of them,
the Red Cross is another. American Cancer Society, Shriner's
Hospitals for Children, and St. Jude's Children's Hospital, are just
a few ideas!
Now your Christmas is going to mean something
special and give you the warmth you've been needing, the validation
of your place in the world, and a clean house and conscience to
begin 2009.
